Meet your new birth and postpartum buddy!

Hi there!

My name is Sarah and I was born and raised in the Pacific Northwest. I am absolutely in love with this part of the country. I’ve been to 40 out of the 50 states and in my opinion, nothing beats the west coast (best coast!) I was born in Spokane and moved back here for college in 2015. After 4 years at Whitworth University I graduated with a degree in English Literature and decided to make Spokane my permanent home!

I married a wonderful man in June of 2019 (just two weeks after we graduated from college)! He’s an 8th grade history teacher and we absolutely adore our life together.

We had our first child, a son, in May of 2023 and we are completely in love. Wesley Alder brings so much joy to our lives! We have a fur child named Tessa and we love taking her on family walks around our neighborhood - Corbin Park.

I grew up as a dancer and now like to stay fit with hot yoga. I love natural remedies and am beginning to dabble in the world of herbalism. My house always smells like essential oils or whatever I’ve been cooking that day. I’m also a future pre-natal yoga teacher and childbirth educator - stay tuned!

I’m an avid reader of literature, self-help books, and non-fiction. My favorite genres are historical fiction, fantasy, and of course anything to do with birth or postpartum! I just really love stories. Even if you don’t choose me as your doula, I would still love a chance to meet you and hear the story of what makes you - you!

how did i get here?

I grew up with a mom who worked in labor and delivery for most of my early childhood and was obsessed with hearing the birth stories of her patients. I learned what a doula was in 2015 and have since believed deep in my soul that becoming a doula is part of my life calling, my destiny, my fate. . . whatever you want to call it. I am deeply passionate about this work. I believe that every birth is natural - and whether it is a vaginal, medicated, unmedicated, or cesarean - every type of birth demands support and deserves celebration. I have experience with first time and multiple time parents, inductions, cesareans, vbacs, home births, birth centers, and hospitals!

Until I became a parent myself, I didn’t know how truly valuable the work of a postpartum doulas is! The postpartum period is both sweet and difficult, and if you hire me to be your postpartum doula I want to be as helpful as possible while you navigate the realities of parenthood! Every family needs support after the new bundle is welcomed home and as a postpartum doula my joy and passion is to help you ease into this new season of life.

I’ve been in the birth world for 5 years and have served over 120 families in that time.

What’s with the logo?

My logo is directly related to my passion as a doula. Creating the abstract uterus are three of the most resilient wildflowers.

Wildflowers are persistent, resilient, and grow and thrive wherever they are planted. Did you know that some horticulturists actually recommend scattering wildflower seeds right on top of snow?

From the beginning of their life, wildflowers like Wild Bergamot, Foxgloves, and New England Asters are literally thrown into the most unforgiving conditions and are more beautiful in the end because of it.

Wildflowers remind me not to worry about tomorrow because tomorrow will bring its own troubles. They tell me to stay present in the moment, and if I do, there is a promise of rewarded patience and perseverance.

If you are a person growing a baby in your belly, then you are a human garden! You are a wildflower. I hope you can entrust me with the honor of guiding you on this emotional journey, and through that journey I hope you can hold the promise of the wildflower close to your heart, knowing the hardships of pregnancy and labor can bring the most fulfilling reward in the end.

Thanks so much to K.Bell Media for making my logo vision come to life!

From prenatal support to delivery and postpartum Sarah has been more than I could have asked for in a doula. She always made sure my husband and I had all the tools and information we needed to make informed decisions during the delivery process. The level of care she put into making my birth experience the best it could be and always advocating for my wants and needs in a hospital setting makes me so grateful our family chose her to be my doula. I couldn’t have had such a beautiful experience without her. So to anyone looking for a doula- look no further! She’s simply the best!
